She Might Not have Vision :But a true Visionary Ms. Jidnayasa
Jidnyasa, a visually impaired (100% blind) lady, started losing her eyesight at the age of 18. Eventually, she had to discontinue her college education of B.A. II and 2nd year of Diploma in Beauty culture and Hair dressing. However, She tried to cope with this shock that she would lose her eyesight soon by keeping herself busy with learning vocal music, harmonium and making macramé handicrafts. With her failing vision, limited education and knowledge of Macramé, Music and Yoga (Asan Pravesh), she thought of helping those who are less fortunate than her, the Mentally Challenged students.
Certainly, She stayed in the Late Baba Amte’sAnandwan from January 2001 to 2002 and pursued her Diploma in Naturopathy and Reiki Masters and rendered services in the Hospital there.
While working as a Therapist, she joined AkhilBhartiyaDrushtyheenKalyanSangh Nagpur as a founder member of the committee. She voluntarily contributed for the cause of Avoidable Blindness through street plays, inspirational speeches in 25 days Netradan Jana JagrutiYatra (onlyVvisually Impaired member)for establishment of 25 Eye Banks in Maharashtra(December 2005) with AkhilBhartiyaDrishtiheenKalyanSangh, (now Saksham). She had been the Asstt. Project Incharge of Audio Cassette Library for Blind students pursuing higher education there.
However, She felt the need to compile the data of her patients in “Peace Centre”. As such she did MS-CIT from Blind Relief Association, Nagpur. Her brother at Bangalore insisted her to learn Computer further at Banglore. With the life changing Ms Office training course specially for VI/Blind at Enable India,Banglore, personal guidance and inspiration of Ms. Shanti Raghavan, Managing Trustee , Enable India and her work for the Blind and Disabled person made her acutely aware of the absence of such an Institution in Vidarbha.
As such, refusing an offer of a job in Banglore she thought of offering her services to the Blind and the Disabled at Shri. Baba Amte’sAnandwanWarora, District Chandrapur, Maharashtra(2007-10). The Amtes knew her and believing in her, gave an opportunity to work there as Computer Instructor for VI/Blind. She initiated the project of I.T. Training Centre and English Language school to impart free Computer education to all categories of 200Disabled persons including Leprosy cured persons. She had undertaken two projects sponsored by RashtriyaSamvikasYojana and National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation, Faridabad to impart free computer education to VI/Blind, HI, OH and Leprosy cured persons of Anandwan. She Might Not have Vision :But a true Visionary Ms. Jidnayasa
