Shilpa Nair: Ms Shilpa Nair has been working in the areas of mother and child health, family planning, nutrition and HIV/AIDS for over 25 years. From spreading awareness in remote villages and slums across Uttar Pradesh , training grass root level health care providers and strengthening civil society networks to engaging and holding dialogues with technical experts, bureaucrats, political leaders , media, religious leaders and celebrities, Ms Nair has worked closely with a wide range of stakeholders to improve access to quality affordable health services for women, children and adolescents across the state of Uttar Pradesh. Ms Shilpa Nair has held leadership positions with some of the most reputed organizations in the development sector – CARE International, PATH , FHI 360, State Innovations in Family Planning Project Agency (SIFPSA), Global Health Strategies and the Family Planning Association of India. She has managed large scale implementation projects funded by the International Planned Parenthood Federation , USAID and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. She has been on important consultative forums of the government such as the Health Policy Group, Population Policy Advisory Group, NGO Policy Formulation Cell and Asha Mentoring Group of the National Health Mission. A strong champion for women’s causes, Ms Shilpa Nair continues to advocate for policy changes and implementation efficiencies to increase women’s access to health care information and treatment, as that, she believes, is a prerequisite for the sustainable development of our society.
